Can anyone help me with regards to seatbelts for the rear seats for our Hylo?
Firstly, I am not sure what the law is with regards to having seatbelts fitted for the rear seats, if someone is travelling in the back.
Secondly, can anyone please give me some advice as to where I may be able to have some fixed.
Many thanks Ray

Hi Ray Buried in the Forum is this previous reply from our tame expert Hi Jack. Seat belts in the back of a Motorhome is still not a requirement by law, however as a dealer I am not allowed to sell sideways facing seats as passenger carrying seats, nor am I allowed to fit sideways facing lap belts ( or any other come to that). If you want to carry rear passengers without any belts then it is safer to have them sit just behind the cab seats, many customers have made a bulkhead that fits on the GRP of the seat and to the head board up at the base of the luton area, this would minimise the risk of them being thrown forward into the cab in the event of an impact . If anyone offers to fit belts they will not conform to the BS standards and render your insurance void. You can still insure the van to carry passengers upto the time the law changes on the seatbelt situation ( spring next year). You might now find some Duo Plus' about on the market which have 4 forward facing belted seats. Hope this doesn't spook you too much Ant

I got rid of the HyLo for a Pullman Outlook to deal with this very issue. Found this on the web - if I could load a link I would:
"A recent Directive (2005/40/EC) on the installation of seat belts requires that from 20 October 2007 new vehicles will have to have seat belts fitted on all seats except those seats intended solely for use when the vehicle is stationary.
Where seat belts are fitted, from May 2009, the seat belt wearing Directive will prevent more passengers being carried than there are seat belts in the rear of vehicles.
The new requirements will mean that from May 2009, in any vehicle of whatever age, where seat belts are fitted in the rear, more passengers may not be carried in the rear than there are seat belts available.
The critical points are that for owners of older motorhomes, it will not become illegal to carry passengers in the rear, provided that no seatbelts are fitted to any seats behind the driver and front passenger seats. Owners of any motorhome that has belts fitted to any seat in the rear will need to be aware that, from May 2009, it will be illegal to carry passengers in any unbelted seats."
Effie PS Am sure I saw a duo plus for sale at Ant's last week!
