Hi Heidi, welcome!
I can't answer your first question but someone on here will be able to help.
I'm insured with Adrian Flux who are specialists with Romahomes and the like. Try them, they were the cheapest and insured the contents of/and the romahome as well as the van part of my Bedford Rascal Romahome.

Hi
I haven't got access to my book but I seem to remember that it says either 60,000 miles or 80,000, but I changed mine at 50,000. It is a cheap enough job and not worth the risk of damage, particularly if you have not had the vehicle from new.
Our Berlingo multispace is insured through Fortis but our Romahome is insured through Safeguard. They specialise in Motorhomes. They may not be the cheapest but we have had very good service from them and the price includes foreign use and breakdown cover.

Hello Heidi Welcome to the forum, regarding insurance we use www.lifesure.co.uk/motorcaravan.php we have found them very competitive and they specialise in motorcaravans. Graham

Hi Heidi,
I am with Graham on this one. Also they were the only company we could find who would insure our Romahome for going to and from our place of work. All the other companies refused as soon as we mentioned wanting cover for that as well. They are very helpful when you ring and as Graham has said very competitive on price.

I also use Lifesure,it was breath of fresh air to finally find an insurance company that actually understood what a Mazda Bongo was!!! And very reasonable their quote was as well.Think Im right in saying that imported cars and motorcaravans are a speciality of theirs. Recommended!! Dabs Moya I find it very strange that You cant get insurance to and from work.

Dabs Moya I find it very strange that You cant get insurance to and from work. The first year we had our Romahome I phoned all the companies I could find advertised in the magazines and on the internet and they all refused to insure as soon as I mentioned that I wanted it for social, domestic ,pleasure and commuting to & from place of work. I tried a couple again this year and had the same thing so decided to stick with Lifesure. I queried it with Sureterm and they said it was a greater risk.

When we got our Outlook I was part employed & part self employed. Although several companies did not want to cover business use my existing company National Farmers Union were able to provide cover at a competative premium. I have since insured our current vehicle a Symbol for commuting although they were happy to provide cover for business use. Geoff

Hi Heidi. There are two 1.9 D engines, the 1905cc upto late 1999 and the 1868cc late 1999 onwards, both have a cam belt change recommendation at 72000 miles however the use a motorhome gets means those mileages are not reached for ages. A commercially used vehicle would reach those mileages in about 4 years, so I always change the belt at 5 years regardless of mileage. I had a 7 year old vehicle hear with 27000 miles and its belt was very close to failure where it had dried and cracked. So in answer to your question every 5 years and never later than 7 years to be on the safe side. Ant
