Can anyone give us any advice on having a roof re-sealed? During the wet weather we have wet patches on our ceiling it is difficult to know where the water is comming in from. We can see that the top of our van looks quite patchy and weather beaten and wondered if re-sealing is an option. If you have had a similar problem can you tell us please, hopefully offering a solution! Cheers Carol n Phil

If you have roof vents then it is most likely to be that the sealant needs re-doing, remove old sealant and re-seal with a flexible sealant. I am sure that Ant will be on to give advice.

Hi Carol n Phil. You don't say what age the van is, early Fiamma roof vents ( brown dome outside) are much harder to remove and refit than the later MPK roof vent (white top and 4 way lifting handles). Either way the chances are the wet is coming round a roof vent, which really needs to be removed and resealed. You may be able to reduce the leak by running sealant round the outside but it won't last and then you'll have even more sealant to clean off when the job is done properly. The later Mpk vent can easily be done DIY, 8 screws and its out! The Fiamma vent is normally riveted down and will require drilling out, with care being taken not to over enlarge the holes as new rivets will need to be put back in. Still a DIY job for someone with the kit to do it. I use the Uni-bond " Mega seal" to reseal vents. Ant
