Hi the end of season camping shop sales are really good! I've bought a utility tent for £30 and a luggable loo at £18.99. I know I probably won't need them until next year, but the prices have gone down a lot since I first started looking. They'll be back up high when I do need them so I bought them now! The util tent was previously £45 or thereabouts. £7.50 (I think) postage, but that's not per item, but for everything you order. Here's where I found the cheapest bargains: www.campingonlineshop.co.uk/Jayjay ;D

Oh Pooh! The elastic holding the util tent poles together broke when I took it down, having put it up yesterday for a test after it arrived! I think it's a fault with the manufacture (it looks like a weak/damaged part of the elastic which broke, so all the tent poles fell to pieces). I've contacted the firm to see if I can send back for a refund, so we'll see. The luggable loo is great and fits into the cupboard, so that's some good news! :-)
Update - the firm is arranging for the tent to be picked up next week, no quibbles or arguments, for a full refund. They are paying for and arranging the collection and return postage as the tent is defective. So I reckon this is a good firm to deal with, ;D

He he - I'm replying to myself here! I've had a call from a nice lady from the camping on-line shop to arrange a time for the util tent to picked up and returned to them. What a great firm! There's no quibbling or anything, no probs whatsoever, so I'm recommending this firm to anyone who wants to buy camping stuff. And this week only15-20th October, they are offering postage free!! ;D ;D ;D so get your orders in while you can if there's anything you need.

Hi had a call to say they had received the tent back and to call them re the refund. They also said that if I wanted anything else, even though the week is almost over, that they will extend the free delivery for me ;D So I'm going to get a Royal Unbria 60oz sleeping bag and a fill up hose, both of which I also need. All this kitting out is costing quite a bit, but you've only got to buy it once, and I've got most things I need now, including a new hook-up, luggable loo, reversing sensors (yet to be fitted), etc. Still need an awning so still looking for something. Van is sorted out re overheating prob hopefully- shame the camping sites are just about to shut!

Hi Jay Jay, not all camp sites close for the winter there are several in the caravan club and the camping and caravan club that open all year round so now you are kitted out and the van is up and running keep an eye on the weather forecast, pick some fine weather and get out there and enjoy yourself.

Hi Graham - you're so positive!
I must admit I'm getting just a bit overwhelmed by all the things I've had to do to get Daisy on the road.. At first it was a challenge and I'm good at those, but now its just getting like an endless list that keeps growing and I keep wondering whatever next!!! ;D

Hi jayjay
My list never ends and I am still buying things for our van. Latest is the single ring hob, I decided to get it as it is quite small if we have hook up it won't matter if we run out of gas occasionally.

Hi Viv - is that one of those that runs on the small cannisters of gas? I have one which I thought of taking with me for the very same reason.. The thought of running out of gas and not being able to make a cup of tea I bought mine years ago, when ex-partner bought a cottage in Scotland and we needed something to cook/heat water on until the electricity was reconnected. They are brilliant! Last longer if you keep them on the low setting though. Really impressed with the Umbria sleeping bag, very well made. I keep buying things that might come in handy - do you? I bought some little (empty) travel bottles the other day, which I can fill with shampoo, conditioner, washing up liquid, etc) - and a hanging 'shoe store' which I can put bits and pieces in, like an extra set of shelves - that was around £2.00 from Lidl! Still not sure about going camping in the winter (call me a wimp) just the thought of those long dark evenings... I think I'd rather be at home by the telly! ;D ;D
