Hi everyone at S.M.C. Let us introduce ourselves. We are John and Dorothy (Dot) Hedley. After years of camping in tents we have decided we needed a little more comfort and a few months ago we bought "Betsy" a twenty year old romahome hi top and I can say hand on heart we wished we had done it years ago. We live on the west coast of Scotland and try to get away every other weekend even if it only for one night, there are plenty of good sites within a couple of hours drive both inland and on the coast, our favorite site is Glen Nevis caravan and camping park just a mile or so outside Fort William, another favorite is close to the Mull of Kintyre, overlooking the islands of Islay and Jura the sunsets here can be amazing. Next year we intend touring the north-west coast of Ireland but there seems to be a scarcity of campsites, has anyone had any experience of camping in Ireland? any information would be a great help. I am having trouble uploading a photograph I took last weekend I will try again later. PS you have made a great site here Pauline, well done. John + Dot

Hello John and Dorothy We also love our little romahome and plan lots of trips around the country but more in the better weather. We aim to get up to Scotland sometime next year so will seek your advice on best places and sites then. You make Scotland sound so beautiful.
Sorry we can't help with Ireland and if you get there before us we may need more advice. I am sure someone on here will be able to help you as they are a friendly and helpful bunch of campervanners.
The trouble is that we want to go everywhere, the British Isles are so lovely!!!!!!

Hi John and Dot
Welcome to the forum, what a lovely part of the world you have on your doorstep to camp, we went up to Oban last year for a fortnight when we had our duo and had a lovely time.
We are keen bird watchers and were delighted to see our first White tailed eagle.
Sorry can't help you with Ireland it's on part of the British Isles we haven't visited but as Viv says you can bet your life someone on here will be able to advise you.
Regards Graham

Hi John and Dot Took the liberty of reducing the size of the first picture to make it easier to see. You got the second one spot on! Great pictures, Betsy is quite an unusual design isn't she, don't think I've seen one with a top window on the luton.

Hi John & Dot and and a big welcome to you both. Your "Betsy" looks lovely and what a wonderful part of the world you live in! We ventured to the Lake District for two weeks in September and loved it (the furthest north I have ever been). Hopefully one day we will be able to have a holiday in Scotland. Since we have had our Romahome we have discovered so many lovely places in this country - some right on our own doorstep!
