We have just swapped our car and motorhome insurance to: MCIA (Motor Caravan Insurance Agency Ltd) 34 New Street St. Neots Cambs tel: 0870 366 1245 We are very impressed. Made a considerable saving on the quote from our current insurer and have much better cover for the items in the van i.e. gas bottles and equipment. They were much cheaper and a better deal than any of the ones Graham phoned last week! (And believe me he spent around 3 hours phoning round many of them! ) They were not pushy like some of the other sales people either.

I quite agree, Pauline - I have just reinsured with them for the second year - and I also found they were way cheaper than any other quote I had. Isn't it amazing just how many of the "Big Name" insurers won't cover our Romahomes - even if you already have your car insured with them !!!
Mike
ps - great site - thanks very much ;D

I've just joined the forum and just purchased a demountable romahome on a daihatsu 1300 base. I haven't even collected the van yet as I have to fix up insurance. The present owner says he has the van registered on the V5 as PLG. he says he has discussed changing to motorhome with DLVA and they said since it was demountable then there was some problem with dual usage. Can anyone throw any light or suggestions on this matter? Thanks Jimmy

I'm a first-time owner, and after much searching went for MCIA. Reassuring to hear that there are plenty satisfied customers out there!

Well I kept the same insurance company as my car... churchill... There was no problems, they cover most things, and they were cheap! They even new that it was a romahome when I phoned in for the quote, once they had the reg number.. I did consider other specialist companies, but just decided to keep everything under one roof..

I always think its a good idea to shop around for a better quote each year rather than just accepting the quote your current insurer sends, you can usually get a better quote from companies who welcome new business, then if you like you can go back to your current insurer armed with a better quote and 9 times out of 10 they will either match it or better it just to keep your business.

Morning all
Got in touch with MCIA (Motor Caravan Insurance Agency Ltd) yesterday, they quoted me £30 cheaper than my present insurers, so I went with them right away.
Very easy and helpful
Hope this helps someone.

You guys don't know how lucky you are having so much competition on the mainland. Try getting insurance in Northern Ireland
