Thank you all for your warm response, I am rather overwhelmed by your welcome. I am an active 81 year old man, and as my wife died recently and with no relatives, I am looking for a motorhome to spend the remaining years, as everything in my flat reminds me of my wife. I am looking to buy a Duo Hylo as I think that will be the motorhome that is suitable for me.But as I am a complete novice I am having difficulty deciding what is value for money, as a new one is just out of my reach. Thank you all again for allowing me to unburden my soul like this. Regards to you all, Eugene

Eugene, I am sorry to hear about your wife, I lost my husband last year, it is not easy, but campers are a really friendly and helpful bunch of ppl. Most Romahomes are value for money, you could try Avonmotorhomes of Bristol, Ant is very helpful and fair priced, it all depends on what money you are making available. as you can buy an older model and they are usually in excellant condition. I had a hytop it was 16yrs old and really good, I now have a 7yr hytop with a few more refinements, but body wise the 16yr old van beats this one hands down.
I am sure Ant will read this and perhaps help you out more than I can.
All the best - Joan

Hello Eugene, I am very sorry to here about your loss, and if you ever want a chat somebody here will respond and help if they can.
My only suggestion is that you should buy the best camper that you can afford, at your age you don't want to be laying underneath it doing repairers. I have an old 1992 C15 and I got it at the right price so I don't mind doing work on it, and I am almost there, but I am still young enough to lay underneath and fix any problems I have.
Please come back and ask anything you want to know about campers, this is a very friendly site and someone will know the answer and help you All the very best for your future, Martin

Hello Eugene We too are sorry to hear of your loss, you should be very proud of yourself being prepared to venture out in a motorhome. Like Joan and Martin have said you should be able to find a good Hylo at a reasonable price and there will always be someone here who will be able to answer your questions, so do please ask away. Do you know if there are any Romahome dealers near you? They would be more than happy to give you test drives etc. We hope you will feel able to 'unburden your soul' as much as you wish, we are a happy friendly bunch and you are truly welcome to join us both in cyber space or in person at one of the meets. Pauline and Graham
