Just wanted to say hello to all on this forum. After many many years of camping in tents, my wife and I (Martin and Chrissy) had decided to invest in the luxury of a Romahome. We have gone through the shall we shan't we conversation for a few years now. I'm delighted to say that we have now put down the deposit on a new Outlook SX Romahome. Hopefully we should have it by end of May. Typically we will be traveling as a threesome (with our daughter) and so some form of awning for an extra bed will be a must. (We think we have found a good solution for this for under £200 at a camping store in Essex) Our first major trip will be to Ireland for a touring holiday. Also on the agenda (for next year) will be a ferry crossing to Spain so that we can drive to Portugal. We would be very interested to hear from anyone who has done that trip. We are also looking to Romahome our way around a few music festivals this year. We are Essex based and so if you see anyone trying to find a car park in Romford that hasn't got a height restriction, then that will be us!
Regards to all Martin & Chrissy

Welcome Martin and Chrissy and daughter . You'll find lots of useful advice and help on here - we're very friendly. I can't help with the awning as we don't have one, but several members do use them and I am sure they will be along with helpful tips. As you won't have your new 'toy' in time to join us for the meet in Devizes at the end of March, keep a look out for our next one and perhaps we will see you there. I'm sure that you will spend many happy hours touring around. We (me and johns1) have been to Spain and Portugal but driven through France to get there - not taken the ferry directly. If we can offer any advice ask away.

Hi Wendy Many thanks for that. This looks to be a really interesting website and forum. We've already found the discussions to be very useful indeed. Martin and Chrissy

Hi Chrissy and Martin and daughter,
I know you will enjoy your van, best thing we ever did was buying ours. We have a Movelite awning from UKcampsite website, but not used it yet so can't comment. Have so far managed without one fine.
We also hope to be going to some music festivals, rather fancy the Cambridge Folk Festival but am waiting advice on how to get tickets. Also have Ireland on our list. Would be interested in how you get along with Portugal.
Hope to meet on our travels, bye for now. Viv and terry

Hi Chrissy Martin and daughter You won't regret your purchase, I'm sure. You sound like you have lots planned and as Wendy says you should get some advice re awnings on here. We always had the Romahome drive-away but it probably wouldn't be ideal to use as an permanent extra bedroom. Glad you have found the website and Forum useful - makes it all worthwhile when we hear that it's been of use. We've often looked at the ferry crossing to Spain but haven't yet gone for it. It would be interesting to know how the cost of ferry versus driving down through France compare. Looking forward to hearing how you get on, bet you can't wait for May to arrive! Pauline and Graham (although Graham will no doubt say his own welcome)

Hi Chrissy and Martin
Welcome to the forum, there's always someone to chat to on here, any questions you have ask away and someone will be able to answer. Glad you found the website interesting Pauline puts in a lot of hard work on it and its great when someone says they found it useful.
I like the sound of the Portugal trip as Pauline says we have often looked at the long ferry option but it will probably have to wait until we are retired then we might have more time.
Hope you have fun in your Romahome when you get it, you'll find it worth the wait.
Regards Graham
