Hello Everyone, You seem a very friendly bunch, thank you for letting me join. I haven't actually got my 'van yet, but........... I am going to view a C15 tomorrow, so fingers crossed. It's an 'N' reg but has had one careful lady owner (not that I am gender biased - ahem!)
It is a few years ago, (when the children were small, and they have flown the nest now), since I had a camper van (VW Westfalia), so I am really looking forward to getting another van. So, fingers crossed for tomorrow, and I hope that Ant can take on another customer for habitation checks etc.
Best wishes to everyone.

Good luck with your C15 - I'll keep a lookout for any C15s on the road next time I camp on the outskirts of Brecon (which could be tomorrow if the weather improves)!

Hello Jackie I hope you get the van you want. We have so much fun in ours and even when we are not away the thought of the next trip keeps us going.
Maybe you can join one of the meets. there have only been two so far and they were both lovely relaxed trips and really nice people. Viv

Hope you enjpoy your C15 as much as we did ours. We enjoyed it so much that when I retired we spent a chunk of my lump sum on a Romahome Outlook. We havent been able to use it much yet (6 nights in two and a half months) but we do use it regularly for picnics and we often go and sit in it to have our morning coffee - it makes us feel as though we are on holiday.

Peterholden I loved your note about sitting in your van for morning coffee! I often pop in to mine to rearrange things and make new gadgets/storage arrangements and I just love it.

Weeeeelllllll...................I have bin an gon an dun it!! I am now keeping my fingers crossed that I have done the right thing, I have collected my C15 Hytop tonight. The engine seems to go well, the Romahome facilities are in absolutely excellent order for the year (1996), the outside looks good too, but I feel that I should have had an AA check (or similar ) done on it. Under the bonnet I think it looks a bit grim. But Hey Ho, we will see how it goes. After a while I may be able to part ex it for a later model.
Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome here, I look forward to meeting you on one of your gatherings.
Sorry the weather here hasn't been good Karen, I will look out for you too. Also I just can't wait to see another Romahome on the road so I can give a big wave & grin.
Take care everyone,
Jackie

Hi Jackie, welcome to the site, glad you have your van, sounds great. Engine compartments can be messy, a little oil goes a long way! May be worth spending out for a clean. It's an 'N' reg but has had one careful lady owner (not that I am gender biased - ahem!) Reminds me of a very old joke, car salesman "One little old lady owner, there she goes on that Triumph Bonneville" (for our younger readers a Triumph Bonneville is a 1960's, 100MPH superbike) I had a camper van (VW Westfalia), so I am really looking forward to getting another van. We had a VW T2, great van but what a thirst, it had to go as I was using it for commuting. I think that influenced our choice of the frugal Romahome. I often pop in to mine to rearrange things and make new gadgets/storage arrangements and I just love it. Watch out Terry, looks like your bird is nesting ;D Derek

Hi Jackie It is always nerve racking initially once you have done the deed but after a few days/weeks you will not be so anxious and your worries will dissipate soon. People tend to look after their motorhomes and I am sure yours will be absolutely fine. Enjoy the excitement and there is loads of more fun to come.
I am excited for you!!!!!

That's great news Jackie, hope you are soon off for your first camping trip. Let us know how it goes and if we see a manic C15 driver waving at us, we will guess it is you

Congratulations on your new purchase. I'm sure you'll be itching to take it out for a run very soon. I actually have a Renault Kangoo Roo - it's quite distinctive because there are so few of them around. I've just returned from a very soggy afternoon/evening/night in rain, mist, murk and fog - lovely (not!). I'll keep a lookout for you on my next jaunt into the Beacons. I usually camp quite close to Brecon... Karen

Hi. I'm yet another newbie. Buying an old romahome C15 this Friday. It's my first motorhome (camped in tents until now). Your site seems very friendly and I've read loads of good advice already. Glad to see you've all got a sense of humour too.
My new Romahome has no hand book so no doubt I'll be looking for loads of help with everything, but you all certainly seem to know your stuff.
Can't wait until the weekend.

Hi djsooz
Welcome to our forum, yes we are a friendly lot on here, so glad you have joined us and that you have already found some good advice on here but ask away with your question there is usually someone who can answer most questions.
I'm sure you will love your C15, have fun and come on and tell us about your travels.

Hi Djsooz, I hope you will be very pleased with your C15, I have had mine a week now, and think I know how it all works!! But haven't camped in it yet, Have booked up for 2nd week in June, still getting bits and pieces together. What year is yours? Mine is 1996, and I have the official Romahome handbook together with all the makers pamphlets, so if I can be of any help, just shout. Here's hoping that all goes well for you on Friday, and that you have many happy years together! All good wishes, Jackie

Thanks Viv, yes you were right, as each day goes by I am more confident that I have done the right thing. It was nerve wracking buying it all on my little own some ...... awhhhhhh.!! The lady that I purchased it from was 76 yrs and has just upgraded to the Berlingo, and is still solo camping! Which is very encouraging for me.

Hi jackie and new hello to djsooz.
Fancy being 76 and still camping alone, what a star!
The trouble with my little van is that I keep spending money on it and usually it takes me two goes to get just what I want. Latest mess up is that I have bought really good sleeping bags because OH feels the cold BUT they are too slippery (nylon outer shell) and now I want cotton ones. Terry is getting fed up every time I get something and then want something better and as every thing has to be perfect I go for matching sets of everything so always two to buy again if and when I have made up my mind finally!!!!!
Luckily most bits and pieces i want are quite cheap things.
happy camping

Thanks everyone for a friendly welcome to the site.
Hi Jackie. My romahome is 1995, so close to yours in age. Picking it up tomorrow afternoon so I'll spend the weekend finding out how it all works.
Hope I'm still travelling in my 70's too.
