Due to the sale of our Hylo, this Avon awning is now for sale. Ideal for a one-night stop, this is very easy to erect, and gives some valuable "overflow" space for all those essential items not needed overnight. Only been used about 3 times - in excellent condition - new, about £180 - bargain £125, plus £10 carriage. Also, for anyone who saw it at the Chipping Norton meet, our large green awning is also for sale - can be used with a motorhome, or even an estate car - also excellent condition - £75 plus £15 carriage. Hi Mike, I am after an awning. The Avon isn't free standing is it ? That is what we need. Your other awning, is that a tunnel type, and is it easy to erect , could someone sleep in it, and what are the aproximate dimensions. Alan.

Hi Alan
No, you are correct - the Avon is not freestanding - really just an overnight annexe to put your junk in!!
The large one is 3.3m front to back, and 3m wide. Quite esay to erect - two person job, really - basically 3 fibreglass poles to thread through the external pockets. If you have the Hylo there is a gap on the lhs where it meets the van, due to the door that end being semi-circular.
I think you could sleep in it - there is no inner bedroom, though - and that gap would need blocking up - but on the positive side, it's cheap!!

My other half asks, is there a built in ground sheet and when left free standing, can both ends be fastend ?

Hi Alan No, there isn't a built-in groundsheet - we used a polythene sheet, which was quite successful - about £6 from Wickes. When freestanding, both ends are zipped up, and it looks like a normal tunnel tent. As you can see from the photo, there is a window either side, covered by a storm flap, and the door can extend on two poles to make a sunshade. Mike

Hi Mike, I am interested in buying the tunnel awning, how would you like me to pay you ? I could pick it up and pay cash if you want, but I won't be able to organise that until after the new year. How come I can't see the photo you are talking about ? Alan.

Alan said " How come I can't see the photo you are talking about ?" Dunno, Alan - I can see it on my post of yesterday at 11.34 ! Can everyone else see the picture, pretty please? No problem keeping it 'till after the New Year - we're not very far from each other, so I could meet you somewhere if that was any easier - and, yes, cash would be great!! img480.imageshack.us/img480/5356/p7150052vj4.jpgTry this direct link to the photo - something seems to be funny with this Board lately - gremlin invasion, I reckon!! Thanks for the reply Mike, if you are happy to wait until the new year that will be fine, I will definately buy it from you. We tend to feel the need to get out and about after the Christmas period. We quite often go down to Minehead as I have shares in a steam engine and the railway.
Alan.

Alan - have just found this photo which shows better the gap to the left of the door that I was trying to describe. I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to arrange something to block it up. i127.photobucket.com/albums/p155/Webasto/P9110091.jpgNot too late to change your mind if you don't think it will be suitable!! Hi Mike, Thanks for the photo of the awning, we have no problems with the gap, and would like to go ahead with the purchase. For some reason the earlier photos you posted earlier are now visible. I think it will be ideal for us. I only wondered about using it for sleeping in, on the odd occasion my daughter might want to come away with us. I will put a message on the sight, in the members only section after Christmas, to arrange a good time for us to meet. Alan.
