I've just booked us in from Thursday to Sunday. Booking ref: 700072532
Mike and Heather, I think Hayfield is a walking site, rather than cycling as it is a bit lumpy around there. The walking is superb and directly from the site.
Martin, I don't know if you intend to cycle from Leek, but there are big hills in every direction and the main road is very busy. I certainly don't take my bike when I go there. Walking is wonderful, particularly if you go up onto the Roaches.

Hi Tim, I have booked and paid for Hayfield, but I wasnt given a booking reference. Be really good to see everyone again. Joan Hi all, I wasn't given a booking no. either, but I got mine off of the C&CC web site, in the members area under my future bookings,(or something like that). I think booking on the web site is still down, you have to phone. (Martin will have it all sorted by then!) Yeah course I will, no prob. !?! See you all there, Martin

Tried to book up tonight online and had some fun.
Tried initially for Friday and Saturday night at a price of £26.40 and they were going to take a deposit of £25.00. They may as well just take the whole booking fee than leave such a small balance. After a bit of discussion realised that we may not get away until 7pm ish and depending on the traffic may not get there soon enough for the wardens. Strange too how the price goes up that day to peak season. So thought we would just book the Saturday night but oh no "Campers must book a minimum of 2 nights" could someone please let Simon's work know the C&CC rules as there is always the chance that he will be sent to Cumbria/Scotland/Wales that day. Will try and ring them tomorrow and see what they have to say as if we can't get away Friday it is a waste of £13.00. We often can only stay one night and even on a weeks holiday prefer to move around, which is why we wanted a campervan rather than a caravan. The online booking system doesnt allow for the fact we have a free night voucher which we are having problems using. Is it only me that has these problems with the C&CC as the CC is so easy to book with.
Will keep you posted.

It might be best to phone Jana, they might let you have one night if you sweet talk them You'd think they could add an option to the on-line booking to say that you've got a voucher to use, we've had the same problem and the only way to sort it is by phoning the site, but often many of the sites are on answer machine and it takes ages for them to ring back

You could try ringing HQ as they must be able to accommodate paying by vouchers, but you will have to wait until Monday now when they are open again.

Hi all, Sounds like another fun time for everyone at Hayfield, sadly Patty and I will not be able to make that one, Patty will still be feeding all the little horrors at school until the 20th July, then we're away to the Continent for the following four weeks, but have a good time,,,,,,,Jack & Patty

Oh well after ringing the site, Club Rez and a letter to the C&CC they refuse to bend on the 2 night thing.
As we can't guarantee Simon will be home at a reasonable hour we may have to just drive over and see you all (FreddyVan will be upset) and as not sure about whether we will have to pay to visit lol may park outside and come in with a disguise on. I don't want to book 2 nights to use just one as they have just pushed the price up to peak on the Friday and also it is not fair to people genuinely looking to stay at that site.

Hi Jana It is a pain having to book two nights and like you we very often only stay one night, I wonder what it is that gives us such a wonderlust!
I may have to look into joining the other club as well.

That's a shame Jana, you'd have thought they might bend the rules a little as you were coming to join a group of us. There is parking outside if necessary, hopefully you will be able to get in.

what a slow brainer I am - I have just realised that it is Terry's birthday on 15th July and and since I booked the weekend the kids have persuaded us to have a big surprise party for him that weekend. I have only just realised that it clashes so we will have to unbook and won't be able to make it.
It is a big birthday for him and of course the kids want to plan a big do. I can't believe I did not realise until tonight and it is 10.30 and I am ready for bed, my brain works in a peculiar way. I was just checking the date and read through the posts and it was only when I read mine and saw the dates that I tied it up.
I just hope to make the next one.
We do almost nothing all year and then we get two good things in one weekend and can't do both!!!! oh Pooh!!!!!!!!

Oh No!!! Looks like our numbers are dwindling Viv, I hope you and Terry have a good party, and I'm sure we'll all see you at the next meet. We have got the menu's for the pub that looks like the best choice, so when I get a chance I will post them on here. Kris has already scanned them but I have been away at the Fire Service College all week, so not had a chance to do anything with them. Maybe seeing the menu will entice a few more people to come and join us for the meet....... Tim

Sorry you can't make it Viv but we will all raise a glass to Terry's health and wish him a very Happy birthday while we are there. Tim, is the menu for the 'Sportsman' pub? The campsite did have a menu for them in the window and some of the food sounded lovely - nice veggie ones too. We also noticed as we drove past that they have revamped the pub garden with lovely seating and patio heaters, so we might even be able to eat Al Fresco! We did have a visit to the "Royal Hotel" Lovely real ale but food was quite expensive, also very smokey inside which wafted through to the no smoking area. Having said that I think the new smoking ban will have come into force by then so we won't be affected. Look forward to seeing the menus, feeling hungry already!

Hi Everyone, The pictures are of the standard menu for the Sportsman Pub. If you can't find something that attracts you on there then have a look at the 'specials' menu on the website here: www.thesportsmanhotel.co.uk/restaurant.htmPlease can you let us know what you would all like to eat and we can make sure that the restaurant have the advance booking so no one is disappointed. Hi Martin,
I've put your order on the list.
The van is going really well. Took it down to the Fire Service College last week and laughed about the idea that if the rooms were that bad I'd sleep in the van.......well it was very nearly a decision I had to make...lol!!
We keep planing to go away but things get in the way, such as my course last week and now we are in the process of moving so that's getting in the way too!
So much for Mike spending the inheritance....
Tim

Wow you've got good eyesight Martin or maybe a better computer? We can hardly read the menu! Have tried opening it in preview and increasing the size but it all goes blurry. Any chance you could email a copy Tim, it might be clearer? Sorry to be a pain email: sitemail@smallmotorhome.co.uk Cheers

No, Pauline my eyes are not that good but I do have a large LCD monitor and I think that helped.
I tried to get it better in Photoshop but it wasn't good enough.
It really wants rescanning at a higher resolution, and without the original I cant do that. Sorry.
Up to you Tim

Thanks anyway Martin. I can just about make out the main headings and will read it to Graham , so we will no doubt be able to choose something if Tim can't help with a better copy.
