Nice one Derek,
Thought IrfanView was just a general viewer, must look into it farther.

Hi Martin, cheapscape club software again I used IrfanView because it is very quick and easy to use. I normally use IrfanView for batch conversion and name changes. It has rotation, crop, sharpen etc but I use Paint Shop Pro 4 for general tinkering about as it has more facilities (but it will not do batch work). Derek

One thing we forgot to ask - is the meal on the Saturday night? It's just that we might not be able to arrive until after 7.30 on the Friday evening.

Hi Jackie, You're in good company because I don't eat meat either so any restaurant I organise always has a selection of Veggie dishes!! Tim I didn't realise I was in such good company here (Romahomers & Veggies, WOW!), I like the look of the menu, but sorry I won't be joining you on this meet, but def hope I can make the next one (I don't suppose this has been thought about yet?). I hope you all have a lovely time, you sound a great group. No doubt I will be reading about what I will have missed! Take care everyone, Jackie

Hi,
Sorry everyone for my being absent from the forum, things here are hectic to say the least - being in the middle of legal bits to do with house moves and stuff.
Yes we will book the meal for Saturday night, as we had at Devizes.
I'll sort out all the meal requests this week and call the pub to book it all.
Anyone who hasn't let me know yet please let me know this week.
We are hoping to move the first week of July, so that means we may have to miss out on the start of our holiday, although we will definitely make Hayfield.
See you all there.
Tim

Thanks for organising this and hope that your move goes well and that you manage to fit in most (if not all) of your holiday.
Look forward to meeting up with everyone again.

Hi Everyone, Apologies for being rather absent from here recently, been so wrapped up in sorting stuff for the move. Well we have had a setback as a buyer further down the chain has pulled out so everything is on hold for the moment. We cancelled the first part of our holiday in anticipation of moving so now thinking about where we could go before we get to Hayfield on the 10th. Maybe we could still squeeze onto Leek if we decided to go there. All the meals are booked and we have passed the info we have for pitches onto the site asking them to group us reasonably near to each other as possible. These are the details so if anything is wrong, or I have missed anyone out, please let me know: Staying at Hayfield Tim and Kris 10th till 15th July Joan Lunn - 12th till 15th Martin - 9th till 16th Mike and Heather - 10th till 15th John and Wendy - 12th till 15th Pauline and Graham - 13th till 15th Eating on Saturday night Martin - Homemade Steak & Ale Pie Joan Lunn - Braised Steak Pieces Pauline - Fish, Chips & Mushy Peas Graham - Fish, Chips & Mushy Peas Mike - Fish, Chips & Mushy Peas Heather - Homemade Steak & Ale Pie Wendy - Vegetable Lasagne John - Bangers and Mash plus ours!! Looking forward to seeing you all at Hayfield, hopefully the water will have subsided in Derbyshire by then! Tim

All OK with me Tim
I am ready for the off tomorrow morning, see you at Leek and the others at Hayfield.
Martin
P.S. I phoned Leek on Thursday to see if they had any problems with flooding and they said all was OK

Sorry to hear that your move has been delayed, Tim, and hope things get back on track soon. All our details are correct. Martin, the site at Leek may be OK, but the fields around will be very muddy - don't take Niqc in the field beside the campsite as he'll never be able to lift his paws off the ground! Enjoy your time there as it's a lovely area. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Hayfield, so much so I looked at another forum to see what they said about the site and village. www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=2944After reading the first few excellent reviews we then came to one from Jamessa1. I quote, "We can definitely recommend the Skillet restaurant, behind the church. The food was excellent and the restaurant owner could not do enough to make us feel more welcome, I have never laughed so much. "We can also advise NOT to eat at the Sportman pub located close to the campsite. It has recently changed hands or cook, but it was the worst meal we have ever had. I would even suggest is was the previous evenings leftovers - microwaved! Walk the extra 2 minutes to the village." I know Tim is away already and we will see him next week, but wonder a) how much notice to take of this opinion and b) if The Sportsman pub has gone downhill how we stand? What do others think?

We've often had a look at the Skillet's menu, but if I remember rightly, you might need a mortgage to afford the food! I suppose it depends on what type of food the reviewer likes, perhaps they are into posh nosh and the pub didn't meet their standard?

Another reviewer said: The Sportsman pub was in walking distance and the staff friendly and welcoming and dogs were welcome although we didn't take ours in - can recommend the food and the wine!
One man's meat etc!!!

Yes Wendy and Pauline I agree there are quite a few positive reviews for the local pub previous to that one. It's always tricky planning ahead for a party and things can change, but it's very long odds. So fingers crossed. The company will be excellent whatever ... I once led a walk with about 20 walkers (don't tell Yamaha) with a lunch stop at an excellent pub. When we got there the new owner had taken over that very day, and it took us two hours for all our meals to be served! Being mid-winter we were rather worried whether we would get back in the light and only just made it in the gloom along a busy road. But that was one unfortunate experience out of hundreds of positive ones. Mike

It's usually the bad experiences that stick in your mind too isn't it Mike?! We once decided to re-visit our honeymoon hotel for a meal, that too had just been taken over by new owners who were not actually serving food that day but offered to make us fish and chips as they were keen to have customers! When the food was served the fish was still frozen in the middle! Not a good advert for a new business! She did cook us another lot but needless to say we have never been back!
