Merry Xmas all,
As per the first thread, it looks like we have a clear winner for a more comfortable site, so I will be in touch with them and confirm that we will be staying there.
It is not so clear cut however for the date, at this time we have a 3 - 2 in favor of going later, so I have asked Graham to lock that thread and started this one with a new poll.
If you could please vote for your preferred month to hold the meet, I will take a majority vote and book the site for the time that most people wish to go.
I hope everyone has a awesome Xmas and I am looking forward to seeing you all in the new year.
Happy Christmas all Dave

Hi Dave
You are spending a lot of time and trouble over this, many thanks, looks like its shaping up to be a good meet.
I have voted for early May, hopefully the weather would be nice enough to sit out a bit and get the old BBQ on, early June we are away in France, late May could clash with Bank Holiday and March could be cold but whatever the democratic decision is we will endeavour to be there.
Graham

Hi again, I have just been speaking to the owner of the site that we are going too, and he has had a cancellation for the weekend of May 8 - 10. This is the only weekend left that we could have the rally field until October, if we wish to have a weekend outside this date, we can do so, but will have to be in the main camp area of the site. I have tentatively booked this weekend and told him that I will confirm one way or the other shortly after Xmas, so please let your fingers do the walking ( sorry it's from a Kiwi TV add for the yellow pages ) and place your vote so that we can let him know. Cheers all Dave

Though in hopefully about 18mths I may be in your home country, I was there Nov 06 and just loved it, so waiting for my friend to retire, so that we may have longer to see the country. We just did the South Island, so North next time, but personally, I would love to return to the South, didnt see sufficient. Oh and Hong Kong of course.

Hi Lunnie, I love Turkey, both the place and the bird ( mmmmmmmm Xmas diner ) I have not spent a lot of time there but I did get the chance to go and do some diving which was great. Yes I know what you mean about the South Island of NZ, very beautiful and VERY under populated I live in the North Island, a small ( well kinda small place called Tauranga, this is right on the coast ( Tauranga and Mount Maunganui are the same area ) in the county ( although we don't really have counties ) of Bay of Plenty, Rotorua is about 30 - 40 min drive inland and Auckland is about 2 - 3 hours drive North. When you do go back, please let me know as I can organize some accommodation with my family if you are down our way ( mum and dad are motor homer's as well ) Have a great time, I am sure we will meet up somewhere on the road. Cheers Dave

Thanks also for the kind words about organizing the meet, it has been my pleasure to do so, I just hope that we can all get together and have a great weekend. Have a happy Xmas Dave

Hi Dave, thanks for your mum's invite. We are hoping to hire a Motorhome, as we did for the South Island. 2 ladies, so we had a 4 berth I slept up top and Anne, in the dining area. We really enjoyed it. Empty roads, yet the locals thought they were busy!!!!!

Hi Joan,
Yea well, as you know NZ only has about 4 million people in a land mass the same size as the UK, BUT we do have over 50 million sheep and they take up a heap of room ;D ;D
Seriously, when you are both ready to get back down our way, I would love to be able to organize a stay with my folks for you both, and Tauranga is a lovely area and well worth the visit ( Matamata is only about a 20 min drive, this is where they filmed the shire in the Lord of the Rings films. )

Joan Hi Joan, Just had a thought as I was typing the last post ( yes it was painful ) Have you ever heard about Native parks see: www.nativeparks.co.nz/wawcs0113835/ln-home.html this is a organization that once you become a member ( currently NZ $70.00 about £25.00 ) you can stay at the sites for free as long as you are in a self contained motorhome. I seem to remember there is another one as well, I will check with my folks and let you know. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave, thanks for that link, only problem is that the self contained motorhome we had, we couldnt have used the shower, too high to switch on, and the grey water tank, would never have survived 2 showers!!! and this was a 4 berth Mercedes, 6m long van! But will most definitely check it out when we are ready, I have book marked this in my NZ folder.

Hi all, Well I have just got of the phone with www.greenhill-leisure-park.co.uk/ and have confirmed the booking for May 2009 Friday 9th leaving Sun 10th The cost ( as long as we have 10 units ) will be £10.00 per unit per night including EHU After running the date poll it seems that most people were OK with the May booking, so I bit the bullet and went ahead with it ( anyone who can not attend this date, I am truly sorry and if you can't make it, I will try and organize another as long as this one goes OK ) Please can you let me know if you can attend this meet ( would it be easier to start another thread and a new poll..... I am having a poll withdrawal, not started one in days ;D ;D ;D) Can't wait to catch up with you all. Have a really safe and happy new years. Cheers all Dave

JayJay:-) Hi JayJay, Fantastic that you will be able to come to the meet, I have just confirmed the May booking so I am now just looking to firm up numbers. I couldn't believe the cost that they are charging you for the drop curb , I would have thought that the council should pay for this Hope you have a great new year ( not toooooooo much drinkies ;D ;D) Dave

I know that is not realistic, but it would be great to meet you if you can attend. Have a happy new year Dave
