Hallo All Since I don’t seem able to contribute to many of the threads that run on this forum I thought that it might be an idea to start my own thread – this could be useful to others and in any event it would score me a few points. ;D The idea that I am going to float is that, like a lot of other forums, we should have our own Meet on a campsite. This would involve no work for anyone. We just need to agree – When & Where and make our individual site bookings as usual. There would not need to be a programme and with our small numbers (?) it could be completely informal. It would be nice to meet up and compare notes without all this typing. I look forward to seeing your thoughts and suggestions on this idea and hope that perhaps we could do something before winter sets in. John

If it's late September or October time then we would need some plans on what to do if the weather was wet. Can't imagine us all in one van or huddled under one Fiamma awning for a chat!

Go and wash your mouth out!!! ;D 'It will not rain on Smallmotorhomers' - repeat several times each day. Just have to find a site with a pub nearby - this could also have the advantage of not having to cook an evening meal

Just have to find a site with a pub nearby - this could also have the advantage of not having to cook an evening meal ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now that's my kind of thinking Wendy. It's a great idea John. Is he just trying to get another wheel Wendy? We would be a bit pushed to do much until end of October or mid November as we are off on our holiday for two weeks. It would be good to try and find somewhere that would be a reasonable distance for everyone to go. If we can't make anything that you plan before Xmas maybe we can have another one in the spring.

We would be a bit pushed to do much until end of October or mid November as we are off on our holiday for two weeks. Last two weekends in November would be difficult for us as we are having the grandkids while their mum and dad have a little break together. We are narrowing it down though aren't we!!

Pauline - just a thought - one a couple of other forums I've seen, there is a link to a map, and you can "pushpin" your location on it. No idea how difficult this would be - but at least it would be easy to work out which part of the country would be central to members. I like the idea of a Meet Mike

Not everyone would want to identify where they came from.

I like the idea of a Meet Mike Hi Mike Ooooh you've got me there! I think I've seen the sort of thing you mean but have no idea how to go about it. I'll pick our 'computer geek' of a son's brain this weekend and see what he knows. If it looks difficult I could always do our own mini version linked to the website, something like the campsite review maps but with icons of members. Obviously people would no be able to add themselves on a home made version, I would have to do it on request. Then, as Wendy says, if people don't want to give their exact location they could have a choice of just a region i.e. Scotland, South East etc. if they wanted (or non at all). Nice idea Mike, worth mulling over.

:)Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. Taking all these into account and also your locations around the country I conclude that a campsite centrally located would be reasonable for most people. Accordingly, after much deliberation , I suggest The C & CC Club site at Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds When? The weekend Friday 27 to Sunday 29 October. Obviously people can come for whichever part of the weekend they want and book accordingly ( after this date the site is shut for the winter) I hope that on reading this reply, you will indicate if you can come and we will be able to see if we have enough interest to make our individual bookings Looking forward to hearing from you soon John ;D

Hello,
I'm a new member, and I would like to register my interest in joining you on your meet. I think it's a brill idea, and the Cotswolds would suit me fine, although I realise this isn't set in stone yet, but, if you don't mind, I'll make every effort to be there.
You all seem to be very nice people,
Avril

I hope you realise John that I am making the supreme sacrifice to be at this meet, Notts are at home on the Saturday and I am growing ever more confident that we will do better this season, but then again I am an optimistic fool. At least our son Chris's mate will be happy he always borrows my season ticket when I can't go and they usually win, so perhaps you have done me a favour afterall. Graham

Yep - please count Sue and I in. Sounds like a very nice site, and provided we bring our thermal drawers, us old-un's should be able to cope with the cold - an Indian summer would be a definate bonus - lets keep our fingers crossed. ;D Mike

Hallo All, I am very encouraged ;D by all your positive responses to my suggestion and very impressed by Graham's selfless sacrifice to the extent that we have booked our place at Chipping Norton for the proposed weekend(Friday & Saturday nights 27-29 October) Thank you, Pauline, for the link to the information on the site. I hope that you will all now follow suit and book yourselves in or we will be very lonely . It was always my intention for everyone to book individually. Any of you who aren't C&CC members can book by phoning the site direct on 01608 641993 As an encouragement to you cooks &/or drinkers I should advise you that within walking distance there is an excellent pub (non-smoking) selling real ale and food, see here: www.titeinn.com/. Hoping to see you all there! John

I hope that you will all now follow suit and book yourselves in or we will be very lonely . Don't worry you won't be lonely - I've just booked us in for the Friday and Saturday night! Think we will take our own food. Looking at the menu on-line we are not sure it's our type of cusine - but we could always change our minds when we are there. Will certainly be there for the liquid refreshments though!! ;D

Glad that we will have company. We don't intend to eat out both nights, but may well go on one of the nights. I'm never averse to going out for a meal, although I do quite like cooking. Drinking would be alright for both nights.

Sue and I have booked today for the weekend - as non-members it was £34.60 for the weekend, 2 people. We were members last year, mainly so we could buy an International Camping Carnet, but have decided not to renew this year - so this will be the first Club site we've stayed on.
I mentioned my booking was part of the Small Motorhomes group, but she knew nothing of this - apparently nobody has mentioned so far that their booking was part of a Group booking - may be worth mentioning, then we may all be together.
I asked her to order good weather for that weekend, and was assured it would be requested !!!
Mike

That's great Mike, look forward to meeting you both! We booked on-line so wasn't able to make any comment on it being a meet as you don't get to speak to a human being. The on-line booking is a good service though as you can check availability, book and pay at any hour of the day, but it's for members only. See you in five weeks! ;D

Hello All, We are booked for the two nights friday 27 and Sat 28 October. I also mentioned that there was going to be a group of us but she did not not seem to be able to book us together so i am not sure how we can book pitches together. the lady said that it was not particularly busy on that weekend but could be if weather is good. We have been given a booking number and I suppose that if we gave them all the booking numbers they could fit us in together. I am looking forward to it. Have you all had a recall for suspension caps? ?? Viv
